The company representing Glock pistols in Turkey has announced that “due to high demand for Glock pistols, MKEK will not issue more than one pistol per applicant.”

Müslüm Erdoğan, General Manager of Mend Savunma, the company representing Austrian-made Glock pistols in Turkey, said, “Due to the high demand for Glock pistols, MKEK will not provide more than one pistol per applicant.”

Müslüm Erdoğan held a press conference at the Sheraton Hotel with company officials to provide detailed information about Glock pistols, which will be imported by MKEK.

When asked whether Glock pistols are visible on X-ray machines, Erdoğan said that it is impossible for a product that is mostly made of steel to be invisible on X-ray machines.

Emphasizing that the prominence of Glock pistols in many unfortunate incidents is entirely sensational, Erdoğan said, “Glock is neither a ghost nor an assassination weapon.”

In response to a journalist's question about whether Glock would be sold to security forces, Erdoğan said that Glock would first be offered to the civilian market, but that this pistol, which had previously been tested and approved by military officials, could also be sold to security forces if requested, noting that MKEK was the authority on this matter.

Erdoğan also responded to another journalist's question about why a large number of Glock pistols had entered northern Iraq through illegal channels, saying that the Glock pistols given by the US administration to the Iraqi government had fallen into the hands of others due to the Iraqi government's weakness, and that this had led to illegal trade, but that this would be prevented with the start of official sales in Turkey.

Müslüm Erdoğan also responded to a question about whether similar news stories about Glock pistols had emerged in other countries, saying, “Glock is only sensational news in Turkey; in other countries, they only talk about the technical features and capacity of the pistol.”

When asked, Erdoğan stated that MKEK had initially placed an order for 825 Glock pistols, but according to the information they had obtained, there was very high demand. Erdoğan said that they had advised MKEK to either place an additional order or prevent black market sales by granting everyone the right to purchase one pistol, and that MKEK had responded positively to their advice.

Erdoğan emphasized that there was a high demand for Glock pistols because they were being sold for the first time in many years, and stated that the practice of selling one pistol to each person would be a first in Turkey in order to prevent black market sales.

Erdoğan noted that advance payments for Glock pistols have begun to be collected, and emphasized that the pistols will arrive in Turkey this month and will be sold to those who have made advance payments on a first-come, first-served basis.
