The definition of “ghost” became a problem for Glock users.

Müslüm Erdoğan, representative of Glock pistols in Turkey, stated that the company was negatively affected by the term “ghost gun” and said, “We want this image, which stems from a misunderstanding, to change.”

Müslüm Erdoğan, who is also an official at Feza Ticaret, responded to questions from an AA reporter, noting that one of the most popular booths at the “IDEF 2007 International Defense Fair” held in Ankara from May 22-25, 2007, was the booth of the Austrian company Glock, which displayed GLOCK-brand pistols, However, he emphasized that Glock is not a “ghost pistol” as claimed.

“GLOCK IS VISIBLE IN X-RAYS”

Erdoğan stated that Glock can be detected in x-rays, saying, “The Glock pistol is placed in its box and put into an x-ray machine, and like all other polymer-framed pistols, it is clearly visible in the machine, as was proven in the demonstration at this fair.”

Emphasizing that the claim that it is a “ghost” is “false,” Erdoğan said, “Additionally, this situation is illustrated in the brochures printed and distributed by the company in Turkish, and the claim that the pistols cannot be seen in X-ray machines, i.e., that they are ‘ghosts,’ is categorically denied.”

MKEK SUSPENDS ORDERS

Erdoğan reiterated that Glock pistols are no different from other polymer-framed pistols in terms of visibility, and explained that orders have been suspended by MKEK due to these allegations.

Erdoğan continued: "Therefore, despite the approval of the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Security through the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, the orders were suspended by MKEK on the grounds of the ‘ghost gun’ claim.

Company officials stated that the polymer frame technology used in Glock, a renowned brand known for its lightweight, highly durable, ergonomic design, high capacity relative to its size, and exceptional reliability, They also noted that many firearm manufacturers now produce polymer-framed pistols, which are imported and sold by MKEK, but they cannot understand the absurdity of only Glock being referred to as a “ghost” firearm despite having the same polymer frame.

Erdoğan noted that due to the suspension of orders by MKEK, both those who placed orders and the company were disadvantaged, as the deposits made by those wishing to purchase Glocks were refunded.

Müslüm Erdoğan continued:

"Of course, the point to consider here, as the company has questioned, is that if Glock brand pistols were really ‘ghosts’ as they are portrayed, would the experienced experts and affiliated offices of the General Directorate of Security, who have been dealing with these matters for years, have given permission for the import of these weapons?

Is MKEK the only competent authority in this matter, or are the General Directorate of Security and the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries also involved? According to the company, this negative perception stems solely from the false and misleading information that has been circulating in the media up to now, as has been claimed.

By disregarding such false and misleading information, following the scientific path guided by reason and logic, accepting the truth and accurate information, and considering the elements of quality diversity and competition required by the free market, we expect the injustice suffered by the company to date to be rectified, and for the Glock brand to take its place alongside other imported firearms in MKEK showcases.
