Glock “We are not ghost guns”

Company officials stated that the first batch of weapons would be delivered to 835 people starting in February 2008, saying, "We are not a phantom, we are a reputable weapon brand. No X-ray machine can detect the 34 parts of the weapon."

Mend Defense Industry and Security, the Turkish representative of the world-renowned Glock, held a press conference to announce the arrival of the first batch of weapons in the country.

At the press conference, Company Manager Müslüm Erdoğan stated that 835 weapons would be imported by MKE starting next month, saying, “Glock, which is used by 70 percent of US police units, has begun to be imported in the first batch based on advance orders. After that, sales will continue with different models according to demand.”

Erdoğan, who complained about the weapon being referred to as an assassination weapon, said, “Any weapon, even a knife, can be used as an assassination tool. They call it a ghost, but as seen in the investigations conducted by the General Directorate of Security, it can be detected by all X-ray devices.”

Erdoğan stated that Glock pistols, which currently hold half of the total market share in more than 100 countries, exceeded 5 million units by the end of 2006, adding, "In order to prevent black market sales and smuggling in Turkey, the import of the weapon will be carried out with advance payment within the framework of permits and authorizations. Additionally, I would like to emphasize that we are open to collaboration with all relevant institutions, particularly our security units, regarding this firearm with its superior features."
